ST. RITA FOR PAINTING

DON'T FORGET TO VIEW PICTURES AT PHOTO SECTION

***************

We have completed painting the exterior of St. Rita’s Hall. Thanks to all who contributed with your time and effort as well as those who provided financial support. The Hall looks beautiful.

(10-28-08)

***************

I finally finished painting all the windows with red trim. I also painted one exhose on the roof with red to hide the rust that's beginning to eat it.

The final "look" of St. Rita's Hall is a little better than before. Thank you all!

In Christ,

Brother Gil

(9-29-08)

-----------------

Gil and I (almost) finished painting the "triangle area" on the roof facing the church Sunday afternoon; we ran out of the primary color (used for the stucco). We painted the gutter along the backside as well. Kevin had painted the trim area on the south side (facing the gym) on Saturday.

I still don't see how we can do a credible job on the eaves above the closet. They have not been primed, and I'm not sure if they were scraped.

The putty holding in the windows needs to be painted red.

There are plenty of areas that need a second coat (some of the stucco, the outer walls of the closet, the doors).

As I mentioned before, we are out of the primary color and the trim color is very low. We have plenty of red.

On Sunday, I noticed two aluminum ladders in the closet I had not seen before. I don't know where they came from. If they belong to a Knight they should be taken home. Raul, I think you can take yours home as well. John, the extension ladder is still tucked behind the first table on the floor next to the TV in St. Rita's. I don't know whether it's still needed (if any touching up is required on that one tall wall).

Although we aren't quite done painting, I'd appreciate any items in the closet that we can no longer use be taken home. As we've discussed before there is some issue among the other who use the closet about our stuff being in their way (despite our attempts to store them neatly).

Brother Jerry

(9-15-08)

-----------------

If there is more paint left, I'll paint tomorrow (9-14-08) after the noon Mass.

Brother Gil

(9-13-08)

-------------------

Just finished the the southside trim as well as the trims on east side

and the lower back of storage room. The top difficult access of the

southside have not been scraped nor primed. The north side top of the

kitchen triangle still needs to be painted ,both stucco and trim...we

still need to touch-up the window trims as well. The tall extension

ladder is in the same place as we left it.

Thanks all

Brother Kevin

(9-13-08)

--------------------

John left an extension ladder to reach the trim on the south end of the hall. Although he wanted to leave it behind the Hall, Kevin and I decided to store it behind one of the tables lying on it's side in the hall (also on the south end, next to the piano).

John and I have sons being confirmed on Saturday, so we aren't available to paint that day. I may be able to put in some time on Sunday.

The gutter along the south side and the back needs to be done. I'm not sure about the eaves on the south side. The triangle above the north side has been primed, but needs painting.

The eaves above the closet extension have not been primed or painted (not sure if they've been scraped). They seem very difficult to access.

Then, there's areas that require a second coat...

Brother Jerry

(Tues, Sept 9)

----------

Worthy Brothers,

Brother Jerry, Deacon Jim and me did some priming and painting today at St. Rita's, but we didn't finish because we ran out of the 5 gallon paint.

2 gallon of the same paint and next saturday, Sept 6, we should be able to finish the job. I left some bottled water in the refrigerator for everybody.

If you don't have any plans for next week, please come and help so we can finished our project of painting the building.

Vivat Jesus!

Brother Gil

(Monday, Sept 1)

---------

Saturday, Aug 16, I will be at St Ritas to start priming the building for painting. Any and all help is appreciated. We need a couple ladders, lots of drop cloths, brushes, rollers and extenders for the rollers, and rags. If anyone has questions let me know. Not sure I have answers but I'll try.

John Haynes

smpachaynes@comcast.net

---------

We made a lot of progress on our project of prepping and painting St. Rita's Hall over three Saturdays in May and June. I believe we are ready to prime and paint the Hall. With the 4th of July weekend, vacations, and some final decisions yet to be made on color schemes, we do not yet have a firm schedule to proceed. We'll discuss further at the 7/3 meeting. Thanks to all who participated so far; we need all of the help we can get in the future. (7-1-08)
