Dear Brothers:

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Brother Marty Santoro passed away last night.  I received a call from his brother Peter this morning.  You may have seen Grand Knight Gil's e-mail last night expressing promising news about Marty's health, so you might understand the surprise and grief Marty's family is experiencing.  They asked that an autopsy be performed.

Peter will be travelling out to California soon and wishes to meet us to thank us for the assistance and attention we provided for him this past couple of weeks.  I will forward those details and advise of any assistance we can provide for him.  I'll also keep you apprised of any services.  I'll get a physical address to which condolences can be sent.  Peter's e-mail address is petersantoro@verizon.com.

I was thinking that we could attend the Rosary Night this Tuesday to pray for him together; I'll check with Deacon Jim to see if that's OK.

Brother Marty was a warm and fun man once he opened up.  He was regaling Gil and I with a lot of stories about growing up in New York when we shared a few beers before the Super Bowl.  Words can't express the sorrow I'm feeling.  I will miss him and regret I didn't get to know him better.

He's with the Lord now and I'm willing to bet that Marty's heavenly welcoming committee was wearing New York Giants jerseys (probably Lawrence Taylor).

God Bless you Marty.
