IHR -September 3 and 4, 2008

Hello, my name is David De Luna. I am a 3rd degree Knight in Council 2956 Pittsburg, CA. I am also the director of community relations for Immaculate Heart Radio – www.ihradio.org. You may listen to us on one of the many stations we operate in the NorCal region, one of which we recently opened in San Francisco – 1260AM. We also have 1230AM in Stockton and 1620AM in Sacramento.

We have a pledge drive coming up September 3 and 4, and are in need of volunteers to man phones and basically take incoming calls from donors. The phone bank of 20 phones will be located at Mater Dolorosa school in South San Francisco. The pledge drive will go from 6am to 7pm each day. We’d need volunteers for whatever time they could commit to, even if it’s only an hour. All volunteers are fed throughout the day with beverages and gifts as well for helping us. It’s actually a very fun event. It’s really nice to sit and chat and munch with Catholics who care just like you and then it’s incredible to hear some of the stories of the people calling in on how Immaculate Heart Radio has changed their lives and or those close to them. No selling at all. It’s simply picking up the phone when it rings and saying hello (basically). The callers are calling in specifically because they want to give money so the volunteers job is to simply take down their information and thank them. The volunteer would be asking questions and entering info on a computer screen, which is a very simple, uncomplicated task. Sit and answer the phone, enter what they say into the computer screen. That’s it.

If you would be of generous heart and extend a kindness to a brother Knight and to our apostolate in our work of building His kingdom I would be greatly indebted. Is it possible you could spread this email virally to all Knights and councils in your reach and ask that they pass on this email to their own brother Knights so that any volunteers can make contact with me as soon as possible? Fellow parishioners, wives, adult children, friends, would make fine volunteers.

If we get enough Knights of Columbus volunteers participating – 10+ or so throughout the pledge drive – then we will thank the Knights of Columbus on-air as a group and promote the K of C. We would do this multiple days and certainly more than once a day as there are brother Knights present. We would even be willing to say something like, “…and if you’d like to get more information on how to join this well-known, esteemed organization that does so much important work from the parish level to the Holy Father (they bought him his Pope-mobile!) then call 800-GO-KNIGHTS. That’s 800-GO-KNIGHTS.”…..or something like that. You supply us a phone number. There are NINE MILLION LISTENERS in the bay area alone, a total of 18 MILLION network-wide that will hear this. Could this result in a few form 100s? The interested men will have to be routed to the appropriate council for recruitment. If you can work out this logistical matter, this is a phenomenal way to promote the Knights of Columbus to literally millions of listeners. Brothers, let’s find a way to take advantage of such a great opportunity to promote the Knights of Columbus. Call me if you want to discuss this further. I can’t tell you how much I deeply appreciate your support on this. God bless you.

In His Holy Name. †
