Beach cleanup at Rockaway Beach on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009

Thanks Bro Don and the rest of Marian council for your efforts to clean up our community.

-Bro, Gil

Volunteers hauled more than a million pounds of trash from 1,100 miles of California's coast and inland waterways Sunday. It was the 25th year for the state to be a part of the international cleanup event. View Full Story

Marian council is hosting the first degree

Worthy Brothers,

Marian council is hosting the first degree on Sun Aug 23. Sign in starts at 6pm in the Church. If all goes well the program will start at 7pm in St Rita's hall. We will be cooking dinner for this event. I'm asking for my brother knights to help with the cooking and to give support to the newest members of our order.

Thank you in advance, In service to one, in service to all.

Training: lectors and eucheristic ministers

Training: lectors and eucheristic ministers

Worthy Brothers,

DGK Erik Doran advises we will be serving Mass on the third Sunday at noon for the next three months (Sep-Nov).  Besides the choir, we will serve as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Sacristan, Greeters, and Collectors.  Participation by as many Knights (and their relatives) as possible at each of the Masses is needed.

Brothers Kevin, Jerry, Gil, Basil "Butch" and Raul received training for Lector and Euch. Minister.

Erik may arrange other training sessions prior to Sunday.  Please contact him if you are interested.  He will arrange our assignments for that day.

We want to be visible, so wear your Knights jacket or polo shirt to these Masses.

First Knight's Mass-Father's Day: June 15

First Knight's Mass-Father's Day: June 15

We'll be having our first Knight's Mass on Father's Day (fittingly enough) June 15 at noon. Between the Knights (or their relatives) who currently serve as a Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, and Sacristans (and those who have agreed to be trained prior to 6/15), those positions should be covered. We'll still need Ushers/Greeters and people to take the collection and bring up the gifts. The Knight's Choir will be "performing" prohibiting those members to greet or collect. We can discuss the details at the 6/5 meeting. We'd like to see as many Knights (preferably wearing Council Jackets) and their families as possible. We hope to have these Masses on a regular basis (at least once a quarter), rotating among the various Mass times.

Youth Minister

Youth Minister

St. Peter's is hiring a new Youth Minister. One benefit of starting a Squires group was thought to be a potential attractiveness to St. Peter's (as we don't believe their Men's Club offers any youth programs). A full-time Youth Minister might be threatened by a Squires group or might be an enthusiastic advocate.

community service projects

community service projects

Dear Brothers in Christ:

Heads up on two community service projects:

1.    Beach weed-pulling, 4th Sunday of the month, (on the 26th this month) 10 to 12 noon.  Meet in the community center parking lot.  Be there if you can.  I have a conflict but have been trying to make it to as many of these as possible to represent the K of C.

2.    Beach cleanup, Saturday, Sept. 19, Rockaway Beach.  I think it will also be  10 to 12 noon, but will send more information later.

Many blessings,

Brother Don
