Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
During the ten o'clock Mass this morning, Father Piers Lahey emphasized the danger of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) We were told to give a serious thought regarding this dangerous piece of legislation. If everybody can sign the petition, we have a big chance to defeat this.
God Bless!

Dear Friends,
I'm writing to let you know about a terrible piece of legislation called "The Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA).
FOCA would establish the right to abortion as a fundamental right (like the right to free speech) and wipe away every restriction on abortion nationwide.
It will eradicate state and federal abortion laws that the majority of Americans support and prevent states from enacting similar protective measures in the future.
Please read the expert analysis by Americans United for Life (AUL) and sign the Fight FOCA petition at:

Thank you!

Federal Bill Would Codify Right to Abortion, Guarantee Public Funding Act Today to Stop FOCA
The Federal Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is a dangerous radical bill that would create a "fundamental right" to abortion throughout the nine months of pregnancy. It would eliminate all limits on abortion and force all Americans to subsidize abortions with their tax money.
The abortion regimen imposed by FOCA would be much more extreme than the implications of Roe v. Wade. FOCA would rule out any possibility of limiting or regulating abortion.
Cardinal Justin Rigali, the Chairman of USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities, points out the two major problems with the bill:
First it creates a "fundamental right" to abortion throughout the nine months of pregnancy, including the right to abort a fully developed child in the final weeks for undefined "health" reasons. No government body at any level would be able to "deny or interfere with" this newly created federal right.
Second, it forbids the government at all levels to "discriminate" against the exercise of this right "in the regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, services, or information."
The Cardinal continues to point out, "For the first time, abortion on demand would be a national entitlement that government must condone and promote in all public programs affecting pregnant women."
